Letter from Mark David

"It is best not to know too much too soon," O'ric repeated. "It is best to know only that the story continues and to follow where it takes you."
The MoonQuest

Dear Friends of the Light,

In recent weeks, my inbox has been flooded with messages about this portal or that, this eclipse or that, this major shift-point or that. A large number dealt with the implications of this week's powerful new moon/solar eclipse.

In the past, I would have carefully read through all the articles so as to understand the meaning of these events. I even would have written a few of those articles myself.

In the past, I also would have searched out names and explanations for the specifics of my experiences.

Today, though, it's barely possible to keep up with all the energetic shifts barreling through my life and the life of the planet. Today, I recognize that adding names and explanations does little for me other than offering my mind some degree of assurance that I'm not going insane.

Today, I see that all I can do is surrender fully to all my inexplicable symptoms and yo-yo emotions, to all the sudden collapses and revolutionary beginnings within and around me, to all the unravelings, reformings and contradictions that eddy through my day.

Today I see all that's going on for what it is — a radical rewiring, rebuilding and rebooting of every aspect of what it means to be human.

Today I see that that my only call is to be in the moment with all that is occurring and to give up any need to figure out, understand or explain. Today I do my best to be in the wonder of all I'm seeing and experiencing — including this week's eclipse — and to recognize the higher good in it all.

Last night, during an interview on Blog Talk Radio, I was asked, "Where are we going with all that's going on?" (Click here or here to listen to the full interview.)

My reply was that all attempts to figure out where we're going pull us from the present moment, the place in which all spiritual traditions would have us anchor ourselves. How can I be here, in this moment, when I'm trying to predict what all this means or where it will take me in the next?

I also pointed out that where we're going lies so far beyond our experience (and thus our imagination) that it's impossible for most human minds, as currently formatted, to grasp or predict.

Even the most intuitive and talented of channels is housed in a human body with all its filters and limitations. Even the most insightful of visionaries must run his or her visions through a brain that, evolving and expanding though it is, is neither evolved nor expanded enough to process the fullness of this journey or the infinite nature of our destination.

Don't get me wrong. The quest for meaning is as old as humanity. It has brought us amazing inventions, incredible art and wondrous science. And it will continue to do so.

But there's a difference between a spirit-based experience of connecting with the numinous and a mind-centered experience of connecting the dots.

The former aligns us with the infinite, which is our true nature. The latter often circumscribes us.

I always wondered as a child how scientists could claim that no other planet could support life. Didn't they get, I asked, that life "as we know it" is only one possibility in an infinite matrix of potential?

That's the difference between connecting the dots and aligning with the divine. That's the difference between living from our mind and living from our heart. That's the difference between forcing the infinite-that-we-are into a straitjacket and freeing that same infinite nature to soar unfettered through the limitlessness of our potential as expressed in each moment.

That's why I choose, to the best of my still-limited human ability, to surrender to each of those moments in the absolute knowingness that I'm always protected, safe and loved and in the absolute and humbling certainty that I'm not yet capable of grasping the full scope of my life and the life of the planet.

That's why — again, to the best of my human ability — I've let go most explanations in favor of an unconditional surrender to the highest good in all experience.

That nascent attitude of surrender received a life-threatening jolt last month when my car was broken into in Albuquerque. (See Breaking In. Breaking Out.)

My first, very human reaction was anger, blame, loss and feelings of betrayal. Yet as I allowed myself to move through my emotions, as I struggled against my natural tendency to "try to figure it out," my next step bubbled up effortlessly into consciousness. Even if I couldn't "read" all the reasons or make all the logical connections, I knew my days of full-time travel had ended and that a new phase of my life had begun.

Although it's still evolving, this new phase involves moving away from the sound-healing work I have been doing for several years in favor of Spiritual Life Coaching and Mentoring, Writing and Creativity Coaching, classes and workshops on writing, creativity and spirituality (including on-line webinar-style events), public speaking and, of course, my own writing.

Even as I continue to focus on getting The MoonQuest out into the world (see Upcoming Events, upper right), I'm preparing a revised and expanded The Voice of the Muse: Answering the Call to Write (book and CD) for winter release and gearing up to complete the trilogy that The MoonQuest initiated.

A revamped web site will reflect those changes in the coming months. For now, though, please contact me directly for coaching/mentoring information/rates or to inquire about setting up classes or other group events. (All sessions and many events are available in person or over the phone.)

Finally, although I'm no longer traveling full-time, I remain open to bringing my work and my words to you — in both new ways and old. As I settle into my new home and home base here in New Mexico, I hope you'll stop by on your travels and say hi!

Namaste,
Mark David

P.S. As I shift and renew my focus, I am clearing out all my sound-related CDs and energy drawings — at discounts up to 75%. Once existing supplies are gone, these items will not be re-issued.

As well, I'm discontinuing all currently available writing-related CDs and eBooks in preparation for the publication this winter of an expanded and revised The Voice of the Muse: Answering the Call to Write. Once existing stock is gone, these products will also not be re-issued.
