And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
— Genesis 1:3
If you follow mainstream media at all, you'll know that The Secret, the manifestation movie of our time, has hit Main Street in a big way. From Oprah to Larry King to Nightline, everyone's talking about it.
That's a good thing.
It's good when any spiritual truth gets a wider airing and gains wider acceptance.
But I have another secret to share with you.
If The Secret has hit the masses, it's no longer cutting edge. And if you're reading these words, your vibration has already integrated and transcended the film's basic message.
"The Secret gives you anything you want," the movie asserts. And it's true. We are the creators of our own reality, the masters of our own destiny.
Unfortunately, our creations are too often unconscious and far from masterful, leading to unwelcome results.
As the movie points out, though, we can learn to channel our mastery in conscious ways to create more desirable outcomes.
Everyone wants to hear that their wish is the Universe's command. It's the perfect message for the metaphysically unaware in a culture of control and material longing. No wonder The Secret has touched such a chord.
And because it has touched that chord, it's transforming mass consciousness in profoundly positive and empowering ways.
Yet once we have recognized that spiritual truth and experienced its power, what then?
Do we use it to get what we want? Or do we recognize that our human wants are the smallest part of our divine passion, potential, power and purpose?
I spend a lot of time, at my events and in these newsletters, talking about surrender, about transcending our human desires in order to connect with our soul's yearning, a yearning that may exist so far beyond our human mind as to be unimaginable.
If our ascension is about merging heaven and earth, the human with the divine, then wouldn't we choose to create the highest possible outcome in every moment?
I don't know about you, but my human mind doesn't generally know (or even, sometimes, want) that highest outcome.
A few examples:
• My human mind would never have chosen the unrelenting emotional cleansing and profound financial disaster I lived during my three and a half years in Hawai'i. Yet I can still feel the powerful "truth shiver" at the knowingness that moving to Hawai'i was the right step and see now, after the fact, why that knowingness was accurate.
• My human heart would never have sought an end to what, at the time, felt like a perfect marriage. Yet the experience has been indescribably empowering and liberating.
• My human body would never have opted for nearly 30 months of full-time travel. Yet, because of this lifestyle, I have met many of you, expanded my artistry and connected with so much of this sacred land.
• My human self doesn't want to self-publish my novel, The MoonQuest (see Letter from Mark David, above). Yet I can only trust that this is the highest possible course at this time, for me and the book.
We've all allowed ourselves to be guided in a certain direction, only to ask WHY?? soon after we say yes.
The answer is that at a human level, we cannot see the full context for any experience. All we see is the tiny piece of it we are living in the moment.
It's like looking at a jigsaw puzzle when all its seemingly disjointed pieces are still scattered all over the table. The picture will form over time. Yet at the outset all we experience is chaos, doubt and confusion.
We can use our free will to force pieces together or we can surrender to the bigger picture and allow it to emerge.
I like to joke that the notion of a free-will universe is a myth. Of course, that's not true. We have free will in every moment.
The cosmic joke is that once we use our free will to live at the highest possible vibration, that free will seems to vanishes. All we have left in any situation is the highest choice.
And so even as I detail all I want for The MoonQuest — a fabulous agent and incredible publisher — I know that my highest desire is to get the book out in a way that best serves it and me...whatever that looks like.
In Genesis, God doesn't say, "I want light, I want it to look a certain way, and I'm going to have it. Now." Rather, God says, "Let there be light." And there was light.
Creation is not an act of forcing jigsaw-puzzle pieces to fit together. Nor is it an act of insisting on particular outcomes.
Creation is an act of allowance. Of surrender.
It's about making the highest possible choice and then stepping aside — getting out of your own way — to allow the highest outcome to manifest.
As I was meditating on this article, I heard, "It's not about asking for what you want. It's about being what you are."
What you are is a human expression of the Most High, an embodied god of unlimited power and potential, whose infinite mind sees your highest path more than any physical mind could and whose limitless creative power can bring it into form effortlessly.
When you surrender to that, you are truly in touch with all you desire
That's the true secret.
On Conspiracies, Earth Changes, Economic Collapse and Other Potential CalamitiesA few weeks ago, I was picking up some groceries in the supermarket and suddenly, for an instant, all the shelves looked empty. It was as though all the most dire doom-and-gloom predictions had come to pass and food shortages were rampant.
I should say here that I tend to give no power to such predictions. I'm not saying they're false, just that focusing on them energizes them and increases their probability of being realized.
So I was startled by my vision and felt the pinch of fear.
Soon after, I found myself walking in nature, still disturbed by the experience.
What I heard from the energy of Melchizedek and the spirits of Albuquerque's Sandia Mountain was this:
"Remember that in and through all, you create your own reality. You live on the plane and dimension of your choosing. You decide what impact, if any, global physical and economic changes will have on your life. You. No one but you.
"Remember, too, that if your right and responsibility is to create the reality of your choosing, then the "reality" of fear and lack is one to which you can (choose to) attach no energy. And having made that choice, you will experience no negative impact, regardless of outward appearances.
"The key is to know that you are taken care of, protected and embraced in all moments, and that from that place of knowingness, it is so. Period.
"This knowingness begins with belief, ascends to trust and then to knowingness. And from that, knowingness becomes the simplest and most powerful of energies: isness.
"It is so. And all you are called upon to do is hold the resonance of that isness, despite any and all outward appearances.
"For outward appearances are there, not as tests or punishments, but rather, to strengthen your knowingness of and commitment to the isness. To raise your vibration of that, if you will.
"How do you hold that resonance?
"Through love. The simplest and most complex, easiest and most difficult of all human experiences and expressions — achieved through the wider and wider opening of your heart to everyone and everything, beginning and ending with love of self. Of selves. In all. Through all. Despite all. Period."
