Letter from Mark David

Easy street...
That's where we're gonna be!
— Martin Charnin, Broadway musical "Annie"

Dear Friends of the Light,

Every street on the New Earth is Easy Street. And that is where you’re gonna be....to the extent that you allow it to be so, choose it to be so and, most important of all, declare it to be already so.

For it is already so. Whether or not you are allowing yourself to experience it, the energy of abundance is all around you, is already present in your energy field.

Look around you, in your life. Where is abundance already present?

Are you so busy focusing on the lack you cannot see it?

Are you so fully in fear you cannot feel it?

I speak not only of financial abundance, for abundance takes infinite forms. It’s, well, abundant!

And so I ask again: Where is abundance already present in your life?

Stop for a moment and get a pen and piece of paper, or open a word-processing window on your computer screen.

Now, without stopping to think, jot down 10 areas in your life where you are already abundant.

Focus only on this moment.

Don’t project forward to what you might or might not have in the next hours or weeks.

What’s present for you now?

What’s abundant for you right now?

It can be as basic as the blood flowing through your veins and the air pumping through your lungs that is giving you an abundance of life force right now.

It can be the roof over your head that, in this moment, offers you an abundance of protection from the elements.

It can be the few dollars in your pocket right now.

It can be anything...and everything.

Note it. Acknowledge it. Honor it. Rejoice in it.

Don’t think about the bills that are due tomorrow....or even later today. Concentrate instead on where the Cornucopia of Spirit is, in this moment, flowing and overflowing for you.

Do you feel the love in your life? Acknowledge that.

Do you feel Spirit pulsing through you? Honor that.

What about the computer and internet access that allow you to read this? Even if they’re not yours, they’re available to you in this moment. Celebrate that.

What about the friend who connected you with these words? What about the serendipity or synchronicity that connected us, you and me? Are those not evidence of abundance?

And what about the miracles? We think of miracles as rare and exceptional events. Yet an abundance of miracles exists for you in this moment, beginning with the miracle of life itself. Miracles, like abundance, exist in each moment...in each moment we open to seeing them, to surrendering to them.

Add to your list some of the miracles of this moment.

Find the joy in what is now present in your life and then celebrate the abundance of that very joy.

Note the dance in abundance and dance a dance of in-the-moment fulfillment.

The Latin verb from which “abundance” derives is abundare. Note the dare in abundare. Do you dare to be abundant?

Do you dare to abound in the plenty that already fills and surrounds you?

I ask this abundance of questions for one simple reason: We create more of whatever we focus on.

If you want to create more lack in your life, by all means focus on what you don’t have, on where you are wanting...on the the scarcity, the insufficiency, the poverty.

If you desire to create more abundance in your life, if you choose to luxuriate in all that is already present in the ethers around you, allow heart, mind and vision to dwell on Plenty.

Not the “plenty of nothing” that the Gerswhins wrote about in their Depression-era Porgy and Bess. In that song Porgy sings that “nothin’ is plenty for me.”

We live too much of our lives settling for less than, echoing Porgy’s submission to the notion that not enough is enough.

Don’t settle for plenty of nothing.

Claim, instead, that plenty of Plenty that is the hallmark of the New Earth.

It doesn’t matter whether you subscribe to metaphysical or spiritual terms like New Earth, Heaven on Earth or Ascension, or whether you believe in God, portals or astrology. The fact is that we’re all on our way, as the Gershwins also wrote in Porgy and Bess, “to a Heavenly Land.”

Whatever that heavenly land is, and no one now embodied truly knows what it will look and feel like in its fullness, the journey there is that crazed elevator ride I wrote about last newsletter. It’s an up-and-down, stop-and-start ride that is already carrying us into greater empowerment, greater mastery and a fuller experience and expression of our potential.

That empowerment, mastery and potential are infinitely abundant, because everything is. Everything.

There are no exceptions, despite what you read in the media...despite what you think you are experiencing in your daily life.

The universal energetic template, that one that defines and rules All That Is, is Infinite Abundance.

Anything that looks otherwise is a projection created by fear.

There is no Easy Street in a land ruled by fear.

Fear constricts all flow. Fear is the dam that holds back the naturally flowing river of abundance.

When we dam up that river through our fear, we damn ourselves to a hell of our own creation — an abyss of terror, lack and lovelessness.

When we break open the dam — and the dam after that, and the dam after that — we break down the walls separating the etheric from the physical and begin to experience that freeflowing wash of infinite abundance.

We break open the dam by changing our perspective, by moving from a focus on lack to one of plenty, by holding our focus on what is present not absent for us in this moment.

We break open the dam by loving ourselves unconditionally, even when we think we can’t.

We break open the dam by surrendering to the voice of our highest self and trusting in its wisdom.

We break open the dam by stepping out of our fear — first into courage and then into the fearlessness from which all empowerment derives.

We break open the dam by acting as though it’s already broken, as though the river has already been freed, as though abundance is already present. When you act as though, you make it so.

We break open the dam by knowing that, as we follow these simple guidelines (to the best of our ability in each moment), we are always taken care of, abundantly.

Which dam in your life can you break open right now? Do you dare acknowledge its existence? Do you dare break it open and restore the river’s natural flow?

Identify it, and break it open it. Now.

I know you can, for I already see the river of your abundance circulating freely throughout your beingness.

I know you can, for I believe in you.

Namaste,
Mark David

On Sunday’s New Earth Initiation Teleconference (Feb. 12), I’ll be offering you more practical tools to Claim the Abundance That Is Your Birthright, as well as the energetic assistance to call it in now and ground it into your life today. If you’re ready to live on Easy Street and break through the barriers that prevent you from living abundantly, please join us.

The Way of the Buffalo: Notes Toward a New Earth

Having taken the long road between Sedona and Santa Fe — a 42,000-mile, cross-country journey of more than a year — I am now settling into my first new home of my new life. Even though I have left the road, for now, the Way of the Buffalo continues, wherever I am, for the buffalo is not only about healing, grounding and abundance, it’s a symbol of the power, presence and possibility of the New Earth. And so, in this Year of the Buffalo, these chronicles continue.

January 30, 2006

I pull up to my new Santa Fe home, park the car and go inside. This is a furnished rental, as befits my situation (ie, no furniture or household goods).

Yet I still have a minivan filled with personal effects and the tools of my trade — pretty much the sum total of my material life.

Over the past year, bits ‘n pieces have emerged briefly for events and hotel stays, only to leap back to their assigned place in the van.

Today, it can all come out. It can, but after living for a year like a turtle, with all I own stored in my shell, it’s hard to do.

I stand paralyzed for a time, not sure what to bring inside and what to leave in the van. Even though I’ve lived under a roof for most of my 51 years, a year’s break has shattered that pattern.

An old, perfectionist part of me wants everything inside and put away before dusk. A newer, gentler part recognizes that this is as big a shock to my system as was my initial departure from Sedona 14 months ago.

I resolve to take care of myself by taking it slowly: I bring things in as I need them and put them away as I can.

February 3, 2006

I’m living in an adobe casita that has been renovated as a vacation rental. I’m here temporarily, while the owners finish furnishing and equipping it.

Far from being disruptive, thought, each of their visits is like a mini-Christmas, as they drop off more goodies for the unit (and, thus, for me).

But it’s more than just waiting to see what surprises they have for me. “What do you need?” they frequently ask. Whatever it is generally turns up a few days later.

Today was even more magical, as a blender I had considered buying turns up without my every mentioning it.

Living here has been a powerful exercise in clearly stating my desires and watching them realize effortlessly.

This magic has been in play for a while now. Many of the items on my list of criteria for a first place to live have been realized in this casita.

But this experience transcends Santa Fe and my living situation. I see this is a microcosm of precisely how the Universe works: You state your desires clearly, and not from a place of fear. You release all attachment to them. You hold the resonance of worthiness, self-respect and love.

And the Universe responds from that frequency of abundance that is its ultimate truth.

February 4, 2006

I’ve been wondering how a casita in central Santa Fe can feel so peaceful, so still, so safe, so nurturing, so healing — even with major arteries only a few blocks away. The moment I step inside, it’s as though I’ve stepped into a sanctuary.

“Is it adobe?” my friend Nial asks over coffee. And then I get it. Adobe is earth. In my home, I’m surrounded by walls of earth. It’s as though I step into the womb-like embrace of the Earth Mother whenever I step inside.

February 7, 2006

As I walk home from a cafe not far from Santa Fe’s historic Plaza, I realize that it’s been a decade since I’ve lived anywhere that allowed me the convenience — and pleasure — of walking to a shop or restaurant.

In my old Toronto life without a car, I walked everywhere. And where I couldn’t walk, I bicycled or rode the subway.

As much as I loved those aspects of my life then, I also had a fear of driving. That fear severely circumscribed my life. Now that I own a car and love to drive, I feel a joyful re-integration of urban parts of me that have lain dormant.

I’m certain, as I realize this, that other of my sleeping giants are also reawakening to find new ways of coming together in the oneness that I am.

Easing Your Walk Between the Worlds

What follows is an excerpt from the February 2 teleconference, "Easing Your Walk Between the Worlds."

What’s out there isn’t going to change unless what’s in here, inside of us, changes. The intense externals of our life and times will only shift when we respond to them in a way that maintains the joy, the love, the compassion, the forgiveness, the mercy and the open-heartedness to all — beginning with ourselves.

When we react from fear, we create what Bill Murray experienced in the film Groundhog Day 13 years ago — the endless repetition of all that is lowest, hardest and most rigid in our lives and in our world.

Here’s what’s going on: whatever you’re most afraid of is in your face. Right now. However your fear is most likely to get your attention is in your face. Right now. Perhaps it’s expressing in your financial life...perhaps in your relationship life...perhaps in your health. It’s not how it’s expressing that is important, though it may not feel that way to you.

No, what’s most important is what underlies it. What’s most important is the fear.

If you want to ease your walk between the worlds, you must become fearless. Not even courageous...but fearless....

Fearlessness comes from a place of total surrender. Resistance is the place of pain.

Only when we let go of the old structures that have defined the past are we free to surrender to the God that is your highest presence and wisdom.

Only when we surrender — fully, freely, unconditionally, completely — does the ease we are seeking have a place to move in and take over.

The Rose: A Higher Vibration of Home

Many of the drawings I have created through the past year have been of sacred earth sites encountered on my travels. Now that I am settled, somewhat, in New Mexico, expect to see yet more of this Land of Enchantment reflected in my art.

Before I immerse myself even more completely in the spirit of my new home, though, I have felt called to honor an aspect of my old one.

Though not as famous as its neighbor (Bell Rock), Courthouse Butte has always captured my imagination more than any other of Sedona's red rock formations.

Its sweep and majesty have always brought to mind Castle Rose, a place very much at the heart of The MoonQuest. Yet despite its name, there is nothing judgmental about it. Rather, it carries an elegance and nobility that, to me speaks, of the rose and the highest vibration of home.

You can view an image of my drawing of Courthouse Butte by clicking here and selecting "New Earth Initiators."

The MoonQuest: Seeking the Light in Times of Darkness

This excerpt is from the opening of my novel, The MoonQuest. Read it in installments for free on my web site...

I was an exception to the Law of Balance, a law as old as the land itself. But those were exceptional times, the darkest of ages, in a land where "once upon a time" was a forbidden phrase and fact the only legal tender. That was the land I was born into, a land of slaughtered bards, a land dulled and divided by fear. That was Q'ntana, and this is its story, and mine...a story that begins once upon a time.
